History of PhotoShop

Photoshop version 1.0 was released by Adobe Systems in 1990. It was developed by the brothers Thomas Knoll and John Knoll (a motion picture visual effects specialist, best known for his work as Visual Effects Supervisor on the Star Wars prequels).

The program was intended as a tool for manipulating images that were digitized by a scanner, a rare and expensive device in those days.
